With the Bohai Sea in the east and the Yanshan Mountain north,
Tianjin has always been Beijing's gateway to the sea. Tianjin is
rich in natural resources, historical and cultural treasures which
make it an excellent place for distinguished visitors and businessmen
to come.
Keeping in step with the development of the country, Tianjin has
become one of the most important economic centres and is now a large
commercial and industrial city. Tianjin was forced to open to the
outside world over 100 years ago. Today, Tianjin ranks as the 15th
top trade port city in the world. People are surprised to find Tianjin
has undergone such great changes within such a brief passage of
time.
Tianjin has a history full of moving and impressive stories such
as "the godlike emperor", the decline and re-emergence
of Huangya Pass in Jixian County, Dagukou Forts, ancient sea fortress,
the foreign concessions, the burning of Wanghailou building, and
the memorial hall of the late Premier Zhou Enlai. A lot of historical
and cultural remains are evidence to these graceful and moving stories.
The geographical location makes Tianjin a good place for tourism.
There are mountains, the sea and rivers. Besides the well-known
Haihe River and Bohai Sea, there are also Baxian Mountain, the Great
Valley, the Jiushan Mountain, and pre-historicaI sites, etc. All
these new scenic spots attract thousands of tourists from all over
the world.
Now the Tianjin people have quickened the pace of developing the
tourism industry. They have built new scenic spots such as the amusement
park, shooting fields, bathing beaches, the miniature world, Stone
Garden,and the Eight Immortals Cave.
The Tianjin people have both preserved and created all these tourist
resources left by their ancestors and given by the nature. In the
near future, a new colourful tourist city will appear and be known
to the world.
