March of the Penguins is a 2005 French nature documentary film. The film depicts the yearly journey of the emperor penguins of Antarctica.
《帝企鵝日記》(中文通用譯名)是一部於2005年上映的法國生態紀錄片。片中描繪了帝企鵝每年一次深入南極大陸的旅程。
In autumn, all the penguins of breeding age leave the ocean to walk inland to their ancestral breeding grounds. There, the penguins participate in a courtship that, if successful, results in the hatching of a chick. For the chick to survive, both parents must make multiple arduous journeys between the ocean and the breeding grounds over the ensuing months.
秋天,所有到達育齡的企鵝們都會離開海洋向南極大陸腹地行進,直至他們的祖先孕育他們的地方。企鵝們會在那裡交配,如果成功的話就接著孵化小企鵝。為了保證小企鵝的存活,企鵝父母必須用幾個月的時間,經過多次艱難的行進,把孩子們帶回海洋來養育。
It took one year for the two isolated cinematographers to shoot the film, which was shot around the French scientific base. The film won the 2005 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. It became the second most successful documentary released in North America, after Fahrenheit 9/11. It grossed over $127 million worldwide.
